Microsoft is currently testing an updated version of the Microsoft Store for Windows 11, available to Windows Insiders on the Canary and Dev channels. This revamped store offers a new way to manage your apps, making it easier than ever to keep your software up to date and organized.
New Downloads Section
One of the most significant changes in the updated Microsoft Store is the introduction of a new Downloads tab. Located in the left-hand sidebar above the existing Library tab, this new section provides a comprehensive list of all the apps installed on your Windows computer, including both free and paid applications.
The Downloads section is designed for easy app management. At the top right, you’ll find a prominent “Get Updates” button that allows you to update all your apps with a single click. Alternatively, you can update individual apps using the three-dot menu next to each app’s listing. This menu also offers additional options, such as sharing the app, writing a review, rating it, pinning it to your taskbar, or viewing the app’s release notes.
Enhanced Library Section
While the Downloads section focuses on managing installed apps, the Library tab has also seen some changes. This section now provides a detailed overview of all the apps installed on your system, as well as any apps you’ve purchased but haven’t yet installed on your PC.
In the Library, you can see the installation date for each app and switch between different overviews, such as lists of all apps, only games, or only movies. You can also sort these lists by date or name and filter them to show only installed apps. A search field is also available to quickly find specific apps.
Streamlined App Management
By separating the Downloads and Library sections, Microsoft has made it easier for users to keep track of their installed apps. The new layout not only simplifies the process of updating and managing your software but also provides a more organized and efficient way to view and interact with your entire app collection.
These updates to the Microsoft Store aim to enhance the overall user experience, making app management on Windows 11 more intuitive and user-friendly.
